Irish Brown Bread
To make sour milk put 2 tablespoons
vinegar in a cup and enough milk to measure 2 cups.
2 cups all-purpose
flour
1-1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup natural bran
1/4 cup
granulated sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
2
cups buttermilk or sour milk
1/4 cup cooking oil
Grease a 9x5x3 inch
loaf pan.
Preheat oven to 350F.
Combine flours, bran, sugar, baking soda
and salt.
Make a well in center.
Pour in buttermilk and oil.
Stir
just to moisten.
Place in loaf pan.
Bake in 1 hour.
Remove form pan
to cool.
Serve plain or toasted with butter.
