(grass, peas, etc.). If you repeat a word or can’t think of anything in a
predetermined time—your out! Variation: Name things that have the word green
in it, i.e. Green Bay Packers.
- Hot Potato
ny Judi Ahram, from Philadelphia, PA, Director of
ElderWatch Plus Adult Day Services
Seat your group around a table or in a tight circle. Play Irish music.
When the music begins to play, you start to pass a potato clockwise (can use 2
potatoes and pass them at different starting points). Suddenly stop the music -
the person or persons holding the potato(s) are asked a trivia question. If
answered correctly they remain in the circle - if not they must leave the
circle, (or to make the game less competitive the group answers the question,
and everyone plays the game until completion, of time).
- Leprechaun Hunt
by W.Holidays
Hide chocolate coins for people to find. Also hide a
leprechaun (you should be able to find one this time of year) The finder could
wine the grand prize--a big pot of chocolate, a Irish cookbook...
- Potato Toss
by Bob Shand in Pennsylvania
USA
You will need potatoes and a
hula-hoop. Lay the hoop on the ground. Starting close to the hoop each player
tosses his/her potato so it lands within the hoop. Each player who is
successful, moves to the next round which is played from a greater distance (1
meter) from the hoop. The players who miss the hoop are OUT. Play continues with
each round getting further from the hoop. The player who gets his potato into
the hoop from the longest distance is the winner.
