Summer Garden Party for Kids
by DebraJean1968

Invitation:
Take the seeds you plan to use at the party and place them in zip lock bags--be sure to label the bags. Cut out the front and paste to a hard stock paper. Add your invitation text and your set.- added Holly Ruggiero

Dress:
smock or oversized t-shirt to wear!

Dcor:
Have it outdoors

Activities/Games: Spread a large table cloth over a long banquet table. Then, the supplies you will need are:
peat pots
potting soil
assorted vegetable & flower seeds
wipes
Popsicle sticks
permanent marker
**When you send out invites, be sure to mention each child will need a smock or oversized t-shirt to wear!
Then all you need to do is supervise while the kids plant their own pots! Label each Popsicle stick as to what is planted in the pot and stick it in. The kids will have a ball and a take-home reminder of the party!
***The wipes are for obvious reasons!

Food/Cake:
Gotta have a veggie platter!

"Gumdrop Garden", I found this wonderful idea for a cake. And it's so easy too!
a pound cake or a loaf-shaped cake
chocolate frosting
ladyfingers
chocolate wafers cookies, finely crushed
sugar gumdrops
green toothpick

Ice the top and sides of the cake with the frosting.
Trim each of the lady fingers to the top is pointy-like a picket fence.
Gently press the "pickets" against the sides of the frosted cake.
Sprinkle the crush cookies on top of the cake to make "soil".
Sprinkle some sugar on some wax paper.
Use a rolling pin and flatten the gumdrops to 1/4 inch thick.
Using kitchen scissors cut out tulip shapes.
Insert a toothpick into the bottom.
Make a pair of leaves using the same techniques as used for the flowers.
Add leaves to the toothpick.
"Plant" your flowers into the cake.
For a finishing touch sprinkle green tinted shredded coconut around the base of the cake to resemble grass.

Personally I would add some gummy worms too. You could really get creative with this simple cake!
