I remember mother
by Camey

I remember mother
when you were there for me
For hurts and bruises and crushes
that turned out never to be

I remember turning fourteen
Do you remember that year too?
I lost my boyfriend
He loved somebody new

Oh! mother, the heartaches I brought to you
You told me the hurt would fade
And the sun would shine through
And I would live through this day

With tears in my eyes
It was hard to see
That being your age
You were wiser than me

Now mother
When my child comes to me
I think of you and try to comfort her
As you tried to comfort me

Oh! mother you were always there for me
When ever I needed you
Now you can rest assured
I will be there for your grandchild too.
