Ojo de Dios translates as "Eye of God" and are considered good luck. Ojo de Oros or "Eye of Gold" is traditionally made for the Summer Solstice. Although it seems complicated when you first read though the directions you will find it is really easy and fun.

2 wooden dowels, chopsticks, or Popsicle sticks
yarn in several colors

have on hand
scissors

Cross the tow sticks making an "X".
Tie yarn in a knot around the sticks where they cross.
Strengthen the "x" and start the pattern, wrap yarn twice \\ then // for the "x".
Begin weaving the yarn over one stick then under and around the next, then over and around the next. Keep repeating this pattern.
When you want to change colors simple tuck the thread under the yarn in the back.
