Pumpkin Spice Cake

3-1/4 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1/2 teaspoon clove
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup butter, softened
1-1/2 cups granulated sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
4 large eggs
2 cups canned pumpkin
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 cup buttermilk
1-1/2 cups nuts, optional
icing
3 tablespoons butter
1-1/2 cups powdered sugar
1-1/2 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
pinch of nutmeg
Preheat oven to 350F.
Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
Sift dry ingredients together. Set aside
In separate bowl, beat butter and sugars for 3 minutes.
Add eggs, then beat in pumpkin and vanilla.
Stir in flour mixture alternating with the buttermilk.
7Stir in nuts.
Pour batter into pan.
Bake 1-1/4 hours.
Cool 10 minutes.
Turn out on wire rack, drizzle with icing was still warm.
To make icing, beat all the ingredients together. Ad more milk if necessary.
