National Cream Cheese Brownie

Cream Cheese Brownies
Recipe
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking
powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup semisweet chocolate chips

tablespoons shortening
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
3 tablespoons cream
cheese
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1/2
cup chopped almonds
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Grease 9 inch square
baking pan.
In top of a double boiler, melt chocolate chips and shortening,
stirring until smooth.
Pour into a large bowl and add sugar, cream cheese,
and eggs.
Beat well.
Stir in vanilla and almond extract.
Slowly add in
flour, baking powder and salt, stirring constantly.
Fold in almonds and pour
the batter into pan.
Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, until toothpick comes out
clean.
Let cool in pan before cutting into bars.
