One year, One month, One day
by Tammie Johnson in Richmond, Virginia

One year out of many they all seemed the same.
Came this wonderful man with the unusual name.
For it was one year he changed our life,
That was the year he made our mom his wife.
One month, a beautiful spring day,
Vows they made would always stay.
Forever in our hearts, shall the two be one.
Our new father and her new sons.
One day, was all it took for us to know
That this man would be there to watch us grow.
To see our good times and our bad
For this was the man I could call “dad”.
His life, his work, on this earth was done.
With out a warning, he could tell no one.
In our hearts shall his voice stay true.
So that we may hear him anytime we're blue.
And at the end I heard my mom say
I loved him best for One year, One month, One day.
For that was how long they were man and wife.
So short a time that will last the rest of her life.

2001 Tammie Johnson
