Egg Egg Trees
by Ann Riley, Australia
skill level: medium
cost: under $5*
craft
time: 3 hours+ plus drying time
*This depends on the cost of eggs in your
area.
twigs or artificial/real blossom branches
plaster of
paris
spray can lids
small wreath of flowers or single flowers
very
small Easter eggs (about the size of a scorched almond)
twist ties or
ribbon
small fluffy chicken and butterfly found in craft shops
green or
pink tissue paper
Have small wreath or flowers ready and cut blossom
branches to no more than 12 inches in length.
Make sure lids are clean and
dry.
Mix plaster of paris and pour into lids quickly put in blossom stalks
and flowers around them.
If they are wreaths put in wreath first before
stalks allow to set hard while waiting for plaster to set cut circles about 6
inches out of tissue paper and wrap eggs with a twist at the top using twist
ties or ribbon ensuring that there is enough to tie the eggs onto the
branches.
Once the twigs are firmly set, tie eggs ( I used about 12 eggs for
a tree) onto branches make sure the tree is balancing as the eggs can be heavy,
pulling tied ends out so they look like blossoms or leaves coming out in spring.
Glue chicken and butterfly wherever you like on the branches for added
effect.
Use for a table centre at Easter.
In Australia Easter is in
Autumn (Fall) thus the need for artificial spring flowers and blossoms. The
idea came from Christmas tree table centres. We have no decorations for Easter
that I know of.
About Ann Riley
I have classed this activity as medium because you need to be able
to tie the eggs. I work in a Nursing home where many Residents are unable to do
this for various reasons Nimble fingers are essential. - Ann
