National Butterscotch Brownie

Butterscotch Brownie
1/4 cup shortening
1 cup light brown
sugar, packed
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
3/4 cup all-purpose
flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup butterscotch
chips, or 1/2 of butterscotch and 1/2 chocolate
Melt shortening in a
saucepan over low heat; remove from heat.
Mix in brown sugar, vanilla and
egg; stir well.
Stir in remaining ingredients.
Spread in greased and
floured 8x8x2 inch pan.
Bake butterscotch brownies at 350F for 20 to 25
minutes.
Cut brownies while warm.
